Working with the Georgia State University Football Team provided us with an opportunity to put our strength in video alongside our passion for sports. GSU is a dynamic school, and we wanted that dynamism to be showcased in the video materials we created. We developed an emotional appeal to the content which was made a reality through beautiful camera shots that captured the player’s work ethic as well as the aesthetic of the facilities.
Georgia State acquired what was formerly known as ‘Turner Field’ to be used as the permanent home of GSU Football beginning in 2017. With this, the GSU Athletics staff was in need of a wide range of video content to help share the message with fans of GSU as well as more general residents of Atlanta.
The video produced was used in a variety of mediums, everything from social media, to internal use, to fascia boards in the stadium as well as on the stadium jumbotron. The content of the videos was also very diverse, including humorous instructional videos, music driven hype videos, and an emotional tribute with the “Thank You Atlanta” campaign video.
One of the more unique features of the GSU project was the opportunity to create an original music track to be used as the foundation for the hype video. Using GSU’s diversity as the blueprint, we brought in musicians of different styles, all of which had some affiliation with GSU, to create a song that reflected this diversity.
The final track blended many musical genres to produce a cool sound that established the vibe needed to build the hype video from. The video was played on the stadium jumbotron during very home game and was also released on social media and other web mediums.
With a special excitement surrounding the 2017 season, it was important to capture the GSU audience in as many ways as possible. One of the concepts that we envisioned was a gameday website that would host all of the important information surrounding game day, as well as some fun and innovative features for user experience. Thus, gsugameday.com was born.
We built a visual-centric site that was aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate, as well as responsive across all devices. Throughout the season, we provided weekly updates to reflect the week’s upcoming matchup, giving the site a unique fluidity which kept it from becoming stale for fans who continually use the site.
