As a university and athletics program that has been trending upwards at an exponential rate for over a decade, GSU was looking for a fresh update to their Athletics brand when we began working with them in 2016. Since 2016, we have accelerated their marketing efforts by creating dynamic content in a variety of formats, mediums, and styles. Highlights include top-tier video content, stadium graphics, a responsive website, and creative consulting.
Every video piece for GSU has been created with the purpose of inserting the school into the fabric of Atlanta’s sports history. Everything from the full-length, 60 minute documentary “Our City / Our Time” which told the story of the first decade of the Georgia State Football Program through 17 original interviews from those who were there, to the “Thank You Atlanta” campaign piece which was shared as GSU moved into former Turner Field.
The canvas which we were given for GSU allowed us to explore some diverse aspects of our creativity. We composed an original song/music for the 2017 Football Intro Video “This Is Our City” while also using trendy video editing to showcase the city of Atlanta. Our stadium graphics have always been an integral part of the gameday experience, providing energy and aesthetic to GSU Football’s new home at Center Parc Stadium.
When GSU Football moved into their new home stadium in 2018, it became a priority to share information about the venue and other gameday protocols. Thus, we created a dynamic one-stop-shop website that could house all the required information as well as other fan-centric content that could be updated weekly to encourage more visits. Mobile friendliness, responsiveness, and efficient maintenance were also of top priority.
What was formerly Turner Field became the new home for Georgia State Football in 2018 (now called ‘Center Parc Stadium’) and there was a vibrant energy surrounding the stadium that needed to be present inside as well. We built an entire portfolio of top class stadium graphics in addition to filming all the gameday videos, including starting lineup videos, in-game segments, and the team intro video “This Is Our City” which included original music written and composed by GSU students and graduates.
Amongst the haste of March Madness is the fact that conference tournaments end on Sunday, and the tournament begins during the middle of the next week. In 2018, Georgia State Basketball won the Sun Belt Conference and earned a bid into the tourney, with their first round matchup scheduled for that Friday. On Thursday at lunch, the idea was submitted for a hype video to be shared prior to tip-off the following day. So we wrote a script, gathered equipment, assembled a cast and crew, shot, edited and delivered the “Defy The Odds” hype video by 7 AM Friday morning.
